Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading them. They can be a good source of extra damage and more AD or even more affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They increase the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The damage absorption of an item of armor will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it should be heavier.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, some upgrades will give the armor a certain number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade that an item will receive, as shown below.
Some upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is identified by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require charges to use, which are indicated by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire according to the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the area and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but is readily available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are worth the investment.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it can also affect the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade could increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Certain weapons come with special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece, or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. In the past, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased quality. You could continue doing this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear that has low levels of upgrade, but high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater chance of granting you the highest level of advantages and benefits.
To increase their level faster, most players will be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels
Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The quality of a diamond can be improved by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.
All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a certain level to qualify for them. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
It is normal to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and make a harder surface than steel so that repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades players can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, cannot be swapped out, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can provide your hero with many small, but beneficial benefits. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors as well as through completing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants a small but useful bonus to speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player acquires weapons and armor. item upgrader of equipment has an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. item upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree that normally are filled with the hero's ideal stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will discover other trinkets in form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or killing a particular boss. You can view them by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
